Autumn Wishlist

Can't believe September is nearly upon us! Not that I'm too upset - the run up to Christmas, New Year (and my birthday) isn't all bad. There are lots of things I like about autumn but that would take too long to write down, so here is a snippet of the items I am lusting after...
The new Origins moisturiser (1) has been all the rage recently; although it's fairly pricey, the fact that it is 'energy boosting' is very appealing when you think about how drowsy you are going to become when work or school rolls around! A leather jacket is also something that I need as a staple in my autumn wardrobe (2). Although this real leather piece from River Island is over a hundred quid, I'm sure I can find something similar with a cheaper price tag! The Zara necklace (3) is gorgeous and could certainly be used to transform an entire outfit, while the waterproof Timberland boots (4) are a must-have for the bitter British winters. Finally, a simple slogan sweater is always essential for me (5). It's basic but no doubt comfortable, and burgundy is very much a fall colour!

What's on your autumn wishlist?

Fashion Exposed - Charity Event

Hello all,

On the 14th of August I had the pleasure of attending a fantastic event called Fashion Exposed, which is an annual charity fashion show held at one of my local arts centres called Rich Mix, in Bethnal Green. The show aimed to bring together different art forms for young people to express their creativity whilst at the same time helping to raise money for ACLT (Afro-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust). There wasn't just fashion but spoken word, dancing and singing as well!

^^ Tasty cupcakes from the Drew's Cupcakes stand! Red Velvet was particularly scrumptious...

^^ I loved this designer's kimono! Absolutely gorgeous.

^^ A great performance from Shanteh Fuller!

Designers:

- NeRD Central

- Check My Flow
- Kiwi and Yam
(website launching soon)

- La'Cint Designs
(not sure if there is a website but on Instagram it's simply 'lacintdesigns'
- Ashley Lloyd
(not sure if there is a website but his blog is http://ashleylloydint.blogspot.co.uk/)
- Insomnia Fashion
- Victoria Geaney
- E Enis Creations

All in all, it was a great night! The hosts, Uncle D and Pure Yinkz, kept everyone entertained and did a good job interviewing the designers and the performers. The models managed to have a fun time as well as maintaining a professional air. It was also very eye-opening to learn more about the facts of blood, organ and bone-marrow donation within the Afro-Caribbean community and how important it is to encourage more people to get involved. I may not be eligible to get involved with ACLT, but I was very much inspired to put myself forward in the future for blood and organ donations (organ donations when I'm dead, of course, which shouldn't be for a few years yet!)

Thanks for reading, as always!

Austria and Slovakia 2013

As I mentioned yesterday, my summer holiday this year was to Austria and Slovakia. We went to a family wedding in Austria, which was lovely, and then I managed to get some sightseeing done in Vienna, the capital, as well :) .. it's got a lot of nice places of interest; the funfair was definitely a favourite! It's there all year round, so if you're thinking of heading in that direction of Europe then I strongly suggest taking a trip there. If you've got kids, they'll love it, and if you don't, well, just release that inner child of yours and it'll be epic! Food was lovely - I'm contemplating fasting now because I ate so much there - and the weather was, as mentioned, slightly ridiculous. We Brits will just never get used to the hot weather, so I think it might be quite a good thing that we are only allocated a certain amount of summer each year! We wouldn't stand a chance otherwise.

As for Bratislava, it was quite small for a capital city, but that certainly didn't stop it from being beautiful. Some parts are slightly more run-down than others, which is understandable because places are still being renovated and businesses are fairly new. The old town was the main source of attraction; some people I think describe it as a mini version of Prague. Now, I haven't been to Prague but I can imagine they both have similarities. Either way, that area was incredibly lively and picturesque :) ..  The photo of the blue church is one of my favourites!

Below: Vienna and a castle in the countryside that we visited.

^ These are quite literally one of the best things in life.

^ Austria was another chance I got to spend with Clara!

Below: Bratislava and some of the surrounding area.

Will definitely miss this holiday!

Sightseeing Outfits

Hello again,

I recently got back from my summer holiday - Austria and Slovakia were both beautiful and the weather was to die for (quite literally - I found I was melting!) Thought I'd share some of the outfits I wore on holiday to make up for my lack of postage (not sure about that word in this context?)

I shall be posting a few snapshots of the scenery, too .. and maybe a cheeky selfie here and there. It was great to be with the extended family as well! It was a fab time all in all.
